Your Ultimate Guide to Wedding Confetti

Let’s be real here - who doesn’t love a confetti shot at a wedding? It’s vibrant, fun and as a Yorkshire-based wedding photographer I’m here to share my experience and thoughts on how to choose the right confetti to get the most banging photos! - There might also be a cheeky discount at the end!

Why Biodegradable Tissue Paper Wins Every Time:

First off, let's chat sustainability. I’m all about capturing epic moments while being kind to the planet, and biodegradable tissue paper confetti ticks all the boxes. Here's why it's my top pick:

  • Vibrancy That Pops: Unlike dried petals, tissue paper confetti gives you a vibrant burst of colour thats unmatched. Your wedding photos will thank you.

  • Lightweight and Airy: Airy isn’t my usual style as you’ll see from my work. But when it comes to confetti - this is the goal. Have you ever watched Peter Kay’s standup? Well I personally think dried petals are like Rich Tea Biscuits (One dip and they’re on their arse.) When you throw dried petals up in the air, they just fall straight down due to being heavier.

  • Easy on the budget: Good quality dried petals often rack up the cost. Tissue Paper confetti is far more affordable (even more so with my discount!)

Ditch The Cones & Bags - Bring On The Basket!

Let’s be honest, traditional confetti cones can feel a little outdated, wasteful and a bit of a faff. I highly recommend using a large basket or cool container filled with colourful tissue paper confetti. You can leave this with a bridesmaid or a Groomsmen and have somebody stood outside the venue for people to walk past and grab a handful.

Plus, baskets are reusable and go with the aesthetic of a cool, laid back Yorkshire wedding.

Pro Tips for Perfect Photos:

As your wedding photographer, I’ve seen my fair share of confetti throws. I’d go as far as saying I’m a pro when it comes to confetti. Trust me, when you look back on your wedding album, you’ll thank me for these tips.

  • Go Big or Go Home: Always have more confetti than you think you'll need. Trust me, no one ever regretted too much confetti!

  • Timing is Everything: Listen to your photographer (that’s me!) - I’ll give you the heads up on when and where best to do this to get the most creative, epic wedding photos.

  • Mix Up the Colours: Multicoloured tissue confetti pops against your wedding attire, venue, and background.
